Weekly Comments: AI, SI and Obnoxious TV Ads

Two weeks ago, I wrote about the confusion and concern surrounding AI. President Trump made our ranchers and dairy farmers happy by restoring AI to its traditional meaning, Artificial Insemination. According to Trump, Artificial Intelligence has been updated to a more complimentary term, Super Intelligence.

We already have Super Glue and the Super Bowl. So, it’s unlikely that “super” will be downgraded by associating it with Intelligence. Let’s get used to SI which may now be confused with Sports Illustrated.

Can we endure another month of campaign ads? You don’t have to be super intelligent to wonder why we spend Billions on TV ads, mostly complaining about the other side. Maybe candidates who can’t get elected based on their own merits should stay home and be forced to watch a constant stream of negative ads about themselves.

We are an interesting country. Perhaps confused. If the statistics are accurate, we have more people employed with the highest wages and salaries in history. And the lowest poverty rate.

I heard a comment on television that we are ‘wealthy and miserable at the same time.’  You might argue, yes, half of us are wealthy and the other half are miserable. But really, ALL of us are fortunate to be Americans. A few disgruntled folks flee to Europe, but you don’t see caravans heading south across the Rio Grande.
